Fight against substance abuse
MASCOM partners with BOSASNET
In their effort to contribute towards the fight against substance abuse, Mascom wireless officially launched their partnership with Botswana Substance Abuse Support Network (BOSASNET) this week in Gaborone.
Speaking at the event, Mascom Communication and Public Relations Manager, Barbara Gotlop said the partnership is an illustration of how Mascom is a reputable, responsible and responsive corporation.
She said Since 1998 Mascom has made meaningful contributions to small and large communities around Botswana.
“With this partnership we are hoping to touch the lives of those faced with challenges of substance abuse in Botswana. Our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy is intended to solidify the relationship that Mascom has with the public. We have donated thousands of ICT donations to schools and customary courts. In 2009, Mascom partnered with the government of Botswana through the Nteletsa II project. Todate we donated 81 Kitsong Centres and beginning of 2016 we will donate 14 more,” said Gotlop
In her remarks, The Acting Director of BOSASNET, Prisca Mokgadi said the partnership came at the right time as many people are engaged in substance abuse during the festive season.
She said their organization is not financially stable so the initiative will help them to reach out their clients and spread their messages.
“We heavily depend on the government through alcohol levy fund and the money is not enough. We provide substance abuse education, prevention, and rehabilitation services to the general public,” said Mokgadi
The Chief Marketing Officer of MASCOM, Ms Dzene Makhwade-Seboni said they will share the profit money made from the sms competition.
